The Quest to turn photos into PIXEL-ART-ish

I haven't shared this plug-in just yet...
I want to see if people like the results first while I do some more testing.
What do you think do you like the result or the edited result more than the other methods of scaling down?

I like the results so far. Perhaps it's needed a bit more testing to see the behavior on little essential parts of the image.

Scaled down interpolate for me (if that helps in your quest to rule the pixel world)...

If it's an elected position, my vote for ruler of the pixel world would be based on Quantilate at 0.5.

To me, the less information available in an image, the more important, as Issabella mentioned, the "little essential parts" become. Those parts -- maybe even eyelights in particular -- are not less essential just for being little.

Tim, for taking this on at all, you get extra votes for courage, too.
