Layers Auto crop then resize to selection height Script for GIMP

Post#1 by trandoductin » 17 Oct 2016, 02:41

This script was designed for Rod on gimpchat.com to aid in Custom Font creations/conversion to help him on "His Mission". :)
This script is to aid you in the process of cropping your characters for Creating Custom Font .xcf to be used with Custom Font Script

After having all your characters that define a font stack all on top of each other and in their place.
Make a selection box that defines how high your font will be that includes all the characters lower-case, upper-case and low letters such as "y" and "g".
Then run script below. It'll auto-crop all your characters, then resize all the layers to have the same height as the selection box. So each character will have variable width depending on how wide the characters are (if a path isn't defined). But the height will be all the same so that when you run Custom Font script the characters will line up on the same line (baseline).

Tin,
I cannot get the script to work for me. I have followed your instructions, but after the script runs, it shows outline of the height box but there is no cropping done. I had moved all the characters to the left edge, had them stacked up, made the selection box. I'm not sure what else to do to get it to work. What am I missing?

it crops to your current selection and only based on your selection height.

Thanks, Tin. I think it worked but I did not know it! I was looking at it wrong! Next time I'll know to trust it.

Thanks again. :learned_something:

Tim, this plugin is very useful! :gimp_clap:

Only today I discovered this plugin, and it was by chance, reading other posts from the last century in GC.

I can save a lot of work and time when customizing fonts using it.

In none of the tutorials or topics I read before this plugin was mentioned. I wonder if there are others that are so useful and unknown to those new to this topic.

Thanks Tim!
