Just upgraded phpbb for speed improvement.

Re: Just upgraded phpbb for speed improvement.
Well, I can't compare to check whether or not there was speed gain. But considering the ups were limited to 800x1000, this might make the pages lighter.

Trying to get some help fixing the bugs.
Forum is okay and usable just not perfect for now but could be better if more things are fixed.

I tried to fix the dropdown for quicklinks and logout when you're not on the index page (main page).
And I failed.
During the process I overwrote a lot of files and functions that were bells and whistles?
I think I'll keep it simple like this for now.
So if I update in the future again it'll cause less problems...
I just want the site to be simple now... the ability to register, upload images and scripts and socialize that's it...basic forum functionality.
And no ads to anyone. I think I'll just do ads on my lottery site. It's enough to pay for hosting fees to keep gimplearn.net ads free for everyone.
I hope basic functionality doesn't turn people down too much about our forum.
Other than that I don't know how to fix the drop down problem right now (work around is to click on board-index then drop downs are there...that problem is bugging me the most right now..but there isn't much I can do right now as I have tried all i can.

I am getting the drop down for log out on every page I go to now.
It seems to be fixed for me.
I don't know what bells and whistles your referring to but it all looks pretty good to me.
The only thing for me that will take getting used to are the avatars on the right hand side but who cares.
The uploaded pictures look bigger than normal and my old eyes like it !
Thanks Tim

Glad to know it works for you.
I did had to hack it a little to get the drop downs to work again because other solutions don't work for me.

tim,
Glad you are getting it sorted - you have taken on a huge job with your upgrade.
I am sure we all appreciate your hard work.
The site now loads very much faster.
david.
